The head of the WWF noted the high level of organization of competitions, which are held in Kazan: “This is not the first time we have held the largest international competitions in Kazan. This is both the 2013 Universiade and the 2015 World Cup, the second year in a row it hosts the World Swimming Cup. The organization of competitions always meets all our requirements. I am sure that both guests and athletes, who are used to performing in these walls, felt it. In this pool we hold the “winter” championships of Russia, and next year there will be a “summer” qualifying national championship. That’s why this pool has already become our home.”
Vladimir Salnikov told journalists that the Russian team at the championship is represented by the strongest juniors of the country, including the champions of the III Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2018 – six-time winner Andrey Minakov, three-time winner winners Vladislav Gerasimenko, Anastasia Makarova and Daria Vaskina. He assured that all the guys in the national team want to show better results.
“For many years, the youth team has been led by the senior coach of the Russian national team, Lydia Kapkova. Behind her shoulders the high-profile victories of our young athletes, so in 2015 in Baku, when the European Championship was combined with the I European Games, our athletes set an absolute youth record, winning 23 gold medals. I hope that at this championship the guys will try to get closer to this result,” Said Vladimir Salnikov.
